The international NAMM show takes place twice a year. Winter NAMM in Los Angeles and Summer NAMM in Nashville in June. You could call the NAMM show for a Mecca for the music instrumental industry. People from all over the world is coming to this show were all manufactors of instruments and music software are showing the latest technology.
Besides instruments there are clinics, sessions and artist apperances at many booths at the show, and in the evening different concert events are taking place. At the well-known Ventura Boulevard area, clubs such as La Ve Lee, Baked Potato, Cafe Cordiale and Platinum Live host special NAMM gigs.
Thursday night the company Mackie had a NAMM party for their distributors and friends. At this event the music was delivered by "The Mackie All-Stars Band" a lineup with David Garfield on keyboards, John Peña on bass, Tom Brechtlein on drums, Tim Pierce on guitar and Alex Ligertwood on vocals.

The band rocked the house at Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen at Disney Downtown. The music was a mixture of David Garfields arrangements of own songs and classic rock & westcoast songs. The band played all the favorites, and special guests were invited to join the show. And a very big surprise was the singer Glenn Hughes who gave the songs some high pitched rock vocals and together with Alex Ligertwood they gave a lesson in total vocal control.
Later the drummer Steve Ferrone entered the stage and made the Toto tune "Georgy Porgy" extremely tight and suddenly behind "Creathys" keyboard, the writer of the songs "David Paich" appeared. He was waiting in a line-up to get into the Jazz Kitchen when he heard one of his songs being played. I tell you, this was a highlight.
Beside being a part pf the Mackie All-Stars Band, David also had many other gigs at the NAMM show. He played together with Alex Ligerwood & Steve Ferrone at the Sabian party, and you could also see Creathy at several other gigs and he did some showcases around the tradeshow.
